Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

jill picture Hello.  My name is Jill Stevens, and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor with a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist.

Research shows and I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is extremely important.  I will make every effort to help you feel comfortable and at ease.  I can help you increase your coping skills to deal with your life stress.  I can help you better understand why things happen in your life and how to have more control over it.  I can even help you understand how your brain and body play a part in what is going on with you.

I have worked with individuals with a variety of issues and problems, such as Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, relationships, work/job stress, histories of neglect or abuse, difficulties controlling or managing emotions (including anger), prison-related issues, self-esteem, need for better coping skills, and more. Some of the treatment modalities available to you will be Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and trauma-informed therapy, including therapeutic tools such as EMDR, guided imagery, Mindfulness training, and Brainspotting.  We can work together to choose the type of treatment best suited to your needs and with which you are most comfortable.

Going into therapy can be a hard decision to make.  I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your options and answer any questions you have.  While talking to friends and family can be a big help, talking with a professional can help in ways they can't.  I believe in making mental health care affordable and accessible. If you have limited means to pay for my services, feel free to give me a call or visit my page at  I am also available for online counseling, though insurance does not typically cover it.
